The school proposal at Lama needs more work, so I have been thinking of an alternative scenario. Watching the 5 - 7 (they kept moving!) children under age 4 at Shabbat on Friday night, I thought 'let's just start with them, and their families." What I envision is a sort of mystery school where kids who are still awake or not tooo far asleep, are nurtured to learn the 'old' ways - of contemplation and compassion. I imagine it might be somewhat similar to the monasteries in Tibet and Thailand - for example - where very young children are brought to learn the Buddist traditions. I don't know if the Sufis have something similar. Even ancient Christians had young children, often orphans, in their sanctuaries. And the Celts, and I feel sure, other tribal peoples began the education of children at a very young age (see Manda Scott's series that begins with Dreaming the Eagle). All for now. . . Much to contemplate.

I have been thinking about the sense of having 2 blogs so closely related. . . .and I see that this one could be the more factual, idea-based site and the other has already become a place of poetry and emotion. Seems like a good balance to me.
Tha annual meeting at Lama with proposal for a school there will prove interesting, I plan to take my Nuestra Escuela notebook of many years to reflect among my own direction.
Back on Sunday.
